What do Mark McGwire, Sammy Sosa, and Cal Ripken all have in common?

Yes, they’re all baseball players. But each of them has also accomplished a feat that many thought was impossible.

Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa each shattered Roger Maris’ 37 year old home run record, and Cal Ripken, by playing in more than 2600 consecutive games, annihilated Lou Gherig’s “Iron Man” record.

Both records were thought by many to be impossible to overcome.

Jennifer and I recently moved to Davis, California so that we could pursue our own “impossible mission”.

Our mission, which we’ve chosen to accept, is to take the message of Christ to each of the 24,000 students at UC Davis.

It’s an impossible mission by human standards, yet because we serve an awesome God who Himself has mandated that we take the gospel to the ends of the earth, we believe that it is possible. But we need your help.

We desperately need your prayers as we begin to build the foundation for a ministry that will reach each and every student.

Our focus this year is simple. We want to raise up a solid, committed group of freshman who will develop a heart for Christ and reaching the lost.

Here are some specific things that you can be praying for:

• Pray for freshman on campus. Pray that the Lord would work in their hearts in such a way that they would be extremely open to the gospel.
• Pray for wisdom for us. Pray that we would be able to find ways of reaching freshman and focus our evangelistic efforts on them.
• We have printed up 2000 One-minute questionnaires that we hope to conduct with students on campus during the first week. Pray that we would be able to get at least 1500 questionnaires filled out.
• Pray for students’ response as we call them back. Pray that the students we talk to would be open to the message of Chirst.
• Pray that Jennifer and I would each be able to meet with 40 people during the first 4 weeks of class.
• Pray that Jennifer and I would each be able to start two freshman Bible studies with at least 5 people each.
• We hope to have a Freshman overnighter near the end of October. Pray that we would be able to get 10 freshman to go.

“Elijah was as human as we are, and yet when he prayed earnestly that no rain would fall, none fell for the next three and a half years! Then he prayed for rain, and down it poured. The grass turned green, and the crops began to grow again.”

Please earnestly pray for us, that the Lord would work in the hearts of students so that we would be able to reap a spiritual harvest here at UC Davis!
