Laying a Foundation

When you�re getting ready to build a building, the first thing you must do is lay a foundation. There are several steps to laying a foundation.

First, you must survey the ground.

Second, you must dig up and grade the soil.

After setting up the forms, you�re ready to pour the foundation.

Jennifer and I aren�t building a building but a movement. The process of laying the foundation is similar though.

First, we�re surveying the ground. Jennifer and I were able to conduct 1950 questionnaires during the first week of campus. We�ve been busy meeting with students who filled out questionnaires.

Second, we�re cultivating and digging up the soil. Our goal on campus is to make Christ an issue. We�ve had numerous opportunities to share Christ with students who don�t know him.

One student, named Brianne, was very excited when Jennifer called her and asked her to meet. �I�m so glad you called me�, she said. �I�ve really been searching.� What an opportunity to share Christ! Jen and Brianne are continuing to meet to talk about what it means to know Christ personally.

The last step is pouring the cement. For us, the cement that will ensure a solid foundation is prayer. We are continuing to pray that the Lord would enable us to clearly communicate our vision to students on campus.

In particular, we are praying that the Lord would raise up 20 freshmen who would be gripped by the vision that the Lord has given us to reach this campus for Christ. We�re well on our way to that goal.

Thank you for your continued prayers. We have truly been encouraged by what the Lord has already done in just these first few weeks.

However, getting to where we really want to be will take time. Therefore, we continue to pray for the Lord�s direction and wisdom as we seek to provide leadership to this ministry.

Please pray with us and for us as we continue to develop the �foundation� for our ministry here at UC Davis.

Praises

we conducted 1950 �one-minute� questionnaires with students on campus.
we had 5 students who attended a Leadership training conference on Saturday afternoon
we continue to get more and more students at our Thursday night meeting here at our apartment.

Pray...

for students� hearts as we continue to meet with them to share Christ with them.
for our Bible studies. Pray for 20 freshmen to be involved by the end of the year.
November is the month that we begin recruiting for our annual Christmas Conference. Pray for 10 students from UC Davis to attend the conference.
that students would be gripped by our vision to reach the campus.
for students who have gotten involved in our ministry so far: Ashley, Ruth, Tricia, Beth, and Talia. Pray for Fred, Drew, Mark, Gary, Paul, Johann, Jimmy, Scot, Sean, Jonathan and Jonathan. Pray that others would also get involved.
