On Monday, October 26, we had a great time passing out the freshman survival kits. We passed out about 280 kits in front of one of the Student Unions on campus. We asked the students if they would be willing to fill out a questionnaire for us and we would give them the kit with a copy of the New Testament, a CD with Christian bands, a book called More than a Carpenter by Josh McDowell, and some other fun stuff.
One thing that was very encouraging was the excitement that the students who are already involved had in passing out the kits. We had about 10 students help us in passing out the kits.
Dave and I have been following up on the questionnaires and it has been fun meeting with students who expressed an interest in knowing more about how to know God personally.
One student that I talked to on the phone this week was really overwhelmed by the fact that we were passing these kits out for free. She was so thankful, and expressed her desire to talk to me about spiritual things. These kits are an excellent way for us to creatively reach students with the love of Christ.
One student involved in our movement lives in the dorms and wanted to take some kits and pass them out to her friends in the dorms. What an awesome way for her to begin some great discussions about Christ to those that she lives with. Dave and I are constantly blown away by these students and their hearts to reach out to students who need Christ!
Upcoming Events to pray for
- Please pray for our movement as we begin to recruit students for our Christmas Conference in San Diego from December 27-Jan. 1. The Conference will be an excellent opportunity for our students here at UC Davis to get to meet other students involved in Campus Crusade from campuses in California, Arizona and Hawaii. The students will have the chance to hear some great speakers who will challenge them to grow in their walks with the Lord. We are praying that we will have 10 students from our campus attend the Conference.
- One thing that Dave and I are praying about is for students from our campus to go on summer projects next summer. Summer Projects are a great opportunity for students to invest their summer in getting trained in evangelism and getting to know God better.
Thanks so much for the eternal impact that you are having in the lives of college students. We appreciate you!
