God has been so faithful to provide a home for us. We are very thankful for the opportunity to
have a home where we can more effectively minister to our students. Now we are able to have
more people over to our home than when we were living in an apartment.
When we moved into the house on March 31, we only had about 6 weeks before we had to leave for
Ocean City. We were in Ocean City for 9 weeks. We actually lived in Ocean City longer than we
had lived in our house! When we moved into our home, we knew that we had many things
that we had to do to the house. Now that we are back in Davis after being in Ocean City, we
can take some time to work on the house before school starts. We need to completely redo our
master bathroom, put a roof on our house, and put in a new fence in our backyard.
Often I get impatient and I want to see things done quickly. But I know that big repairs like
this take time. Waiting on the Lord and His perfect timing is crucial.
Not only are we waiting in regards to our home improvements, but we are waiting on the Lord in
terms of starting a family as well. We have finished all of our paperwork with the adoption
process. Now all we have to do is wait on the Lord.
It is easy to get frustrated during this waiting process. Sometimes it is easy to get
impatient and wonder why the waiting time is taking so long.
One thing that God is teaching me during the “waiting” times in my life is that the journey
that we go through to get to milestones in our life is just as important as the actual
milestone itself!
During this process I have been realizing that often I lack the faith that God is sovereign and
that His timing is perfect. God has our best interests at heart, and He will choose the best
possible time for things to happen in our lives. I am learning more and more about trusting
God and His perfect plan for our lives.
Please continue to pray for us as we “wait” for the Lord’s perfect timing in the adoption
process.
FALL QUARTER BEGINS SOON!
It is amazing to think the fall quarter will be starting soon! We are very excited about what
God has in store for us as we step out in faith and reach out to students, particularly
freshman.
Here are some things that you can be praying for as the fall approaches:
We will be passing out about 300 freshman survival kits at the beginning of the Fall quarter.
Each kit contains a Bible, a CD and some evangelistic materials for students.
We hope to conduct 2500-3000 spiritual interest questionnaires with freshman during the first
week. Pray that students would be open and responsive.
We hope to end our first week with a luau. Pray that many freshman would come and get
involved.
Pray for our leadership team of students to be unified as they help to give leadership to
this ministry.
We are planning now for our first ever Fall retreat. Pray now for the details of that weekend
and that many freshman would attend.
These opportunities will be an incredible way to share the love of Christ with students.
SPECIAL PRAYER REQUESTS
- Please pray for Dave and I as we wait on the Lord with the adoption process.
- Pray for us as we trust God and His timing with His will and starting a family.
- Pray that we would be able to raise the money that we need for our monthly support needs
before school begins at the end of this month.
- Pray that we would be able to finish our bathroom remodeling, roof, and our fence before
the busy activity of the fall quarter begins.
- Pray that at the beginning of the fall quarter there would be many freshmen that would
hear the gospel and receive Christ! Specifically, pray for us as we pass out freshman survival
kits and distribute questionnaires during the first week of school, September 25-29.
