t was early in the morning when we were
awoken to the sound of screaming.
It was a typical day for us, as Jacob and Joshua were waking up and wanting
to get fed.
As we began to feed them, we turned on the Television to catch up on the
news. We were shocked to see the twin towers of the World Trade Center burning
and even more alarmed when we learned that it was a result of a terrorist
attack.
At the time of the attack, we were attending a training conference with some
other staff. We ended up spending much of the day in prayer.
Later that day, one of our staff members learned that his cousin had been on
one of the hijacked planes.
I’m not quite sure how or why this tragedy was allowed to happen.
However, I do know that in the midst of all the chaos and confusion, God is
still in control, and He is still working in the lives and hearts of people.
I believe that we may have an unprecedented opportunity here in America. Our
country is more united than ever and people are open to spiritual issues.
Our hope and prayer is that the Lord will use this event to awaken students
to their need for God. We hope that during the first few weeks of school, we
will have the opportunity to introduce students to this God that their heart is
seeking.
We are more excited than ever about what God is doing on our campus. This
year has the potential to be our biggest year ever. It would not be unrealistic
for our group to double in size to 200.
We have more students leading Bible studies than ever and we’re investing
more time and money into our Welcome Week Outreach events than we ever have.
Still, we know that nothing will happen if the Lord does not work through
these events and bless the plans that we have made.
When you receive this letter, we will likely be 2 or 3 weeks into our Fall
Quarter outreach campaign.
With that in mind, please pray for the following:
- For 80 freshmen to get involved this year
- For open hearts as we share the gospel with students who have expressed an
interest
- For a sense of unity and community among our leadership students.
- For an unwavering commitment to holiness and purity as we pursue the
vision the Lord has given us.
- For Jen and myself as we try to balance our new duties as parents with our
ministry responsibilities.
Thanks for your continued prayers and your partnership with us. We both feel
very grateful to all of our friends who have been so encouraging to us in the
recent months. God Bless!
We want to thank all of you for your
prayers for Jacob and Joshua. They are doing very well. We wanted to let you
know how they are doing.
They celebrated their 4 month birthday on September 14. We had their 4 month
doctor visit and their pediatrician said that they are healthy, growing boys who
have come along very nicely considering they were almost 8 weeks premature.
The fun thing for us as parents is to see them grow and develop. They are
both a lot more alert now, and very smiley. It is fun to see our students
interacting with the boys. The boys love studying people’s faces these days,
and love to smile. When they smile, their whole face lights up.
We now have their nursery painted, and they are sleeping in separate cribs.
One thing that we noticed is that as soon as we started putting them in their
own crib, they started to sleep better and longer through the night. They are
sleeping from about 9 pm-5am, which has been great. We had been praying
specifically that the boys would sleep longer once school started, and our
schedules got busier.
Dave and I are blown away when we think about God’s faithfulness in
bringing the twins into our family. Next month we’ll put in a picture to let
you see how much they have grown.
